LSU Season Odds
BATON ROUGE, LA (TheSpread) – LSU matched its worst season under Les Miles in 2014. Will the Tigers rebound in 2015, or could it be another disappointing year for LSU?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, LSU is currently listed with 25/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Tigers are getting odds of +900 to win the SEC Championship this year, while their over/under total for wins has been set at 8.5
Miles is entering his 11th season as head coach of LSU. The Tigers are coming off an 8-5 record in 2014 with a 4-4 SEC mark. The 8 wins matched the 2008 team as the fewest Miles has had. It also broke a four-year streak of double-digit wins for LSU. The Tigers ended their season with a 31-28 loss to Notre Dame to in the Music City Bowl. It was LSU’s third bowl loss in four years.
The Tigers continued to be one of the top defensive units in college last season, allowing just 17.5 points per game, which ranked fifth nationally. The offense continued to struggle, as the team averaged just 27.6 points per game and only 162.9 passing yards per contest, which was 116th nationally. This year’s offense will be led by running back Leonard Fournette, who rushed for 1,034 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014 as a freshman. He enters 2015 on the short list for Heisman contenders. Anthony Jennings was the leading passer in 2014, but is currently serving a suspension that could put Brandon Harris under center to start the season. Either option will need to improve greatly to help lead LSU to a title.
LSU starts the season with a home game against McNeese State before starting SEC play. The tigers also have non-conference games with Syracuse, Eastern Michigan and Western Kentucky. SEC home games will be with Auburn, Florida, Arkansas and Texas A&M. Road trips are being made to Mississippi State, South Carolina, Alabama and Ole Miss. LSU has the defense to contend in the SEC, it is just a matter of the offense finding the next level.
