Ole Miss 2013 Season Odds
(TheSpread) – A promising first season for Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss has the Rebels with high hopes for some hardware in the 2013 College Football Season.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ole Miss has been given 125/1 odds to win the 2014 BCS National Championship. The Rebels have also been given odds of +2000 to win the SEC Championship and odds of +1000 to win the SEC West Division.
Freeze took over the program in 2012 and led Ole Miss to a 7-6 record with a win in the Compass Bowl. This season, Freeze returns 19 starters from that team and the Rebels seem built to be a possible spoiler for the other SEC powers.
Offensively, the Rebels have nine starters back this season. Last season’s team averaged 31.5 points and 424 yards per game. The team will be led by junior quarterback Bo Wallace, who threw for 2,994 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2012. Wallace returns his top three receivers and leading rusher Jeff Scott to the team. Ole Miss also has four starters back on the offensive line, which means the Rebels should be able to move the ball quite effectively.
On defense, Ole Miss was average, allowing 27.6 points and 376 yards per game. In a physical conference, the Rebels held opponents to 129 rushing yards per game. The top six tacklers from 2012 are back, led by linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche, who had 82 tackles and 10 tackles for loss last year. Junior defensive end C.J. Johnson is also back. He led the Rebels with 6.5 sacks in 2012.
