Ole Miss Season Odds
OXFORD, MS (TheSpread) – The Ole Miss Rebels flirted with a playoff appearance last year. Will Ole Miss make a run at the playoffs in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Ole Miss is currently listed with 40/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Rebels are getting odds of +800 to win the SEC Championship this year, while their over/under total for wins has been set at 8.5
Hugh Freeze is entering his fourth season as head coach of Ole Miss. The Rebels have went from 7 wins in 2012 to 8 wins in 2013 and then 9 wins in 2014. Ole Miss was 5-3 in the SEC last season, finishing third in the SEC West. After a 7-0 start and a top ranking in the country, the Rebels lost to LSU and Auburn by a combined 7 points and then were hammered by Arkansas, 30-0. The season ended with a rough 42-3 beat down from TCU in the Peach Bowl.
The Rebels had the top-ranked scoring defense in the nation in 2014, allowing just 16 points per game. The offense wasn’t nearly as tough, averaging just 28.3 points per game. The rushing attack ranked 75th nationally at 155.5 yards per game. The 2015 team has to replace quarterback Bo Wallace, who threw for 3,194 yards and 22 touchdowns last year. The Rebels return their leading rushers, but will need more production from them. Jaylen Walton led the team last year with only 586 yards.
The Rebels open the season with home games against UT Martin and Fresno State. SEC play then begins at Alabama in the third week. Ole Miss also has non-conference games with New Mexico State and Memphis. Other SEC games include road trips to Florida, Auburn and Mississippi State. Home SEC games include Vandy, Texas A&M, Arkansas and LSU. While the Rebels should have a pretty good defense again, they have many questions on offense that could leave them out of the SEC mix.
