SEC West Division Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The SEC West Division has been known for its ability to produce national champions. Which team will escape the West this year as champion?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Alabama is favored to claim the SEC West title, as it has 2/3 odds. Other short odds to win are Auburn (4/1), LSU (5/1) and Ole Miss (9/1).
Alabama is an eight-time West Division champ, last winning in 2012. The Crimson Tide went 11-2 last season and 7-1 in the SEC, finishing second in the West. Alabama has just eight starters back this year. They will rely heavily on running back T.J. Yeldon, who rushed for 1,235 yards and 14 scores last year.
Auburn is a five-time division champ and the defending SEC West winner. The Tigers were 12-2 last season and went 7-1 in the SEC, losing in the national championship game. Auburn has 13 starters back this season, including quarterback Nick Marshall, who threw for just under 2,000 yards while rushing for over 1,000.
LSU is a five-time division winner, last claiming the title in 2011. The Tigers went 10-3 last season and 5-3 in the SEC. LSU brings back 12 starters this year, but loses almost every key skill position starter. Coach Les Miles will have his work cut out for him.
Ole Miss has never won the division title. The Rebels went 8-5 last season and just 3-5 in the SEC. The Rebels have 14 starters back this season, including nine on defense. Bo Wallace is back at quarterback after throwing for 3,346 yards last season, but he was turnover prone at key times.
