UCLA Season Odds
LOS ANGELES, CA (TheSpread) – The UCLA Bruins have been in Pac-12 contention every year that Jim Mora has been head coach. Will UCLA finally claim the title this season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, UCLA is currently listed with 40/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Bruins are getting odds of +450 to win the Pac-12 Championship this year, while the over/under total for wins has been set 9.
The Bruins enter their fourth season with Mora leading the way. He has went 29-11 in his three seasons with an 18-9 Pac-12 mark. UCLA has won 10 games the last two seasons while finishing second in the Pac-12 South.
The 2014 UCLA team had a solid offense, averaging 33.5 points per game, but the defense gave up 28.1 points per contest, which ranked into the bottom half of the nation. The UCLA offense had a great weapon in quarterback Brett Hundley, who threw for 3,155 yards and 22 TDs while rushing for 644 yards and 10 scores. However, he is now in the NFL, leaving Jerry Neuheisel as the only other QB with some playing time in 2014. The team does return running back Paul Perkins, who rushed for 1,575 yards and nine scores, as well as receiver Jordan Payton, who caught 67 passes for 954 yards and seven touchdowns.
UCLA opens the season at home against Virginia and then heads to UNLV before returning home to host BYU. Pac-12 play features home games with Arizona State, Cal, Colorado and Washington State. Road trips will be made to Arizona, Stanford, Oregon State, Utah and USC. UCLA has its toughest conference games this year on the road, which could be a big problem with an inexperienced QB. Oddsmakers have set a lofty win total, but I wouldn’t count the Bruins getting to double-digit wins too quickly.
