Big 12 Championship Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The Big 12 Conference features plenty of contenders this year, but which one will emerge as the one to claim the conference crown?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Oklahoma is the favorite in the Big 12, as it has 2/3 odds to win. Other short odds to win are Baylor (11/4), Texas (6/1), Oklahoma State (10/1) and Kansas State (10/1).
Oklahoma went 11-2 last season and 7-2 in the Big 12 but ended the season with a surprising win over Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. The Sooners are turning the ball over to Trevor Knight at quarterback. He led the Sooners in the bowl win with 348 yards passing and four touchdowns. Oklahoma last won the conference title in 2012.
Baylor was 11-2 last season and 8-1 in the Big 12 to earn the conference title. The Bears have a lot of talent back on offense this year, led by quarterback and Heisman contender Bryce Petty, who had 4,200 yards and 32 touchdowns in 2013.
Texas was 8-5 last season and 7-2 in the Big 12. The Longhorns are with a new coach in Charlie Strong, who brings back some talent on offense, but a group that lacks a lot of consistency. Texas last won the Big 12 in 2009.
Oklahoma State was 10-3 last season and 7-2 in the Big 12. The Cowboys should have another great offense, led by quarterback J.W. Walsh, who spent time as the starter last season. The Cowboys last won the conference in 2011.
Kansas State was a disappointing 8-5 last season and 5-4 in the Big 12. All loses came by 10 points or less. The Wildcats have a strong returning core, led by receiver Tyler Lockett, who had 1,262 yards and 11 scores in 2013. Kansas State won a share of the Big 12 in 2012.
