Arkansas Season Total Odds
FAYETTEVILLE, AR (TheSpread) – After a big jump up in his second season as head coach, is Brett Bielema ready to make Arkansas a SEC contender in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Arkansas is currently listed with 50/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Razorbacks are getting odds of +1200 to win the SEC Championship this year, while the over/under total for wins has been set 8.
Bielema is entering his third season as head coach at Arkansas after a long run with Wisconsin. The Razorbacks were just 3-9 overall and 0-8 in the SEC in his first year in 2013. However, Arkansas went 7-6 last season with a 2-6 SEC record. Four of the six losses came by 7 points or less.
Bielema brought his Wisconsin approach to Arkansas. The team had a very strong defense and a dominant run game. Arkansas was 10th nationally in defensive scoring last season, allowing just 19.2 points per game. On offense, the Razorbacks ranked 26th in rushing at 218 yards per game while scoring 31.9 points per contest. The team returns a pair of 1,000-yard backs in Jonathan Williams and Alex Collins, and it also returns QB Brandon Allen, who threw for 2,285 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2014.
Arkansas has a very manageable non-conference schedule, as it hosts UTEP, Toledo, Texas Tech and UT Martin. SEC home games include Texas A&M, Auburn, Mississippi State and Missouri. Road trips include stops in Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss and LSU. All of the home games can be won this year, but the SEC road games are very difficult. It will be interesting to see if Arkansas can pick up some big road games.
