Mississippi State Odds
STARKVILLE, MS (TheSpread) – There was a point in the 2014 season that Mississippi State looked like a legit national title contender. Will they find a way to have a complete season in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Mississippi State is currently listed with 66/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs this upcoming season. The Bulldogs are also getting odds of +2000 to win the SEC Championship, while their over/under total for wins in 2015 has been set at 7.
Dan Mullen is coming into his seventh season as head coach of the Bulldogs. He is 46-31 overall and 22-26 in SEC play in his previous six seasons. The team is coming off a 10-3 record in 2014 with a 6-2 mark in the SEC, both were highs for Mullen as Mississippi State head coach. The Bulldogs started 9-0, but suffered losses to Alabama, Ole Miss and Georgia Tech over three of their final four games.
Mississippi State has a very dynamic and athletic team last year, as the defense held opponents to just 21.7 points per game while the offense averaged 36.9 points and 513.8 yards per game. This season, the Bulldogs have one of the top Heisman contenders in quarterback Dak Prescott. He threw for 3,449 yards and 27 touchdowns while rushing for 986 yards and 14 scores in 2014. State will have to replace back Josh Robinson, who rushed for 1,203 yards and 11 scores last year, but the offense should still be very strong with Prescott leading the way.
Mississippi State has a tough schedule once again. While non-conference games are only against Southern Miss, Northwestern State, Troy and Louisiana Tech, the Bulldogs will host LSU in the second week of play and head to Auburn in the fourth game. Other SEC home games include Kentucky, Alabama and Ole Miss while road trips include Texas A&M, Missouri and Arkansas. Even with a good offense, it is going to be tough to see the Bulldogs only losing one game this season.
