James Connor Heisman Odds
PITTSBURGH, PA (TheSpread) – Pittsburgh hasn’t been shy at developing strong running backs. Will James Connor be the next in line and make a run at the Heisman Trophy.
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Connor is listed with 40/1 odds to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Trevone Boykin of TCU is the current favorite with 6/1 odds while Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott has 7/1 odds. Braxton Miller, Jeremy Johnson and Nick Chubb each have 10/1 odds.
Connor is a handful at 6-2, 250 pounds. The junior running back is entering his third season with the Pirates. As a freshman in 2013, Connor rushed for 799 yards on 146 carries, scoring eight touchdowns. In 2014, Connor took over the primary running duties and rushed for 1,765 yards on 298 carries. He scored 26 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
Connor was very consistent throughout the year. His lowest rushing total in 2014 was 38 yards, which came in a blowout win over Syracuse. He had at least 75 yards in all other games, including seven games where he rushed for at least 120 yards. Connor also was great at scoring, getting into the end zone in all but two games in the 2014 season.
