Utah Season Odds
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (TheSpread) – The Utah Utes are coming off their most promising season as a member of the Pac-12 in 2014. Will the Utes make a run at the title in 2015?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Utah has been given 100/1 odds to win the national title this upcoming season. The Utes have been given odds of +2000 to win the Pac-12 Conference and their over/under total for wins has been set at 7.5.
Utah enters its 11th season with Kyle Whittingham as head coach. Utah is also entering its fifth season as a member of the Pac-12. In 2014, Utah went 9-4 overall and 5-4 in conference play, both of which were program bests since joining the new conference. Whittingham is 85-43 in his Utah career, including a 49-35 record in conference play, but he is just 14-22 in Pac-12 play.
Utah had a pretty respectable balance of offense and defense last season. The defense held opponents to just 24.9 points per game while the offense averaged 31.3 points and 388.1 yards per game. The team was led by running back Devontae Booker, who rushed for 1,512 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2014. He is back for his senior year. Also back is quarterback Travis Wilson, who threw for 2,170 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2014 while rushing for 309 yards.
Utah opens the season at home when it hosts Michigan on Sept. 3. The Utes then host Utah State before hitting the road to face Fresno State. In Pac-12 play, Utah hosts Cal, Arizona State, Oregon State, UCLA and Colorado. Conference road trips are to Oregon, USC, Washington and Arizona. Utah has very winnable home games this year, but the conference road games are very challenging. With its returning talent, 8 wins should be achievable.
