Seth Russell Heisman Odds
WACO, TX (TheSpread) – Baylor has produced a Heisman Trophy winner and another top contender in recent years, with Seth Russell be the next in the mix?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Russell is listed with 33/1 odds to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Trevone Boykin of TCU is the current favorite with 6/1 odds while Ohio State’s Ezekiel Elliott has 7/1 odds. Braxton Miller, Jeremy Johnson and Nick Chubb each have 10/1 odds.
Baylor has been a tremendous aerial offense over recent years. It was just a few years ago that Robert Griffin III claimed Baylor’s first Heisman Trophy and Bryce Petty had two tremendous seasons in 2013 and 2014 to make himself a contender. Just last year, Baylor was the fourth-ranked passing attack in the country, averaging 365.9 yards per game through the air.
Now is Russell’s time to take over the offense. The junior has seen limited action over his first two seasons with the team. In 2013 he threw for 427 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions on 26 of 43 passing. Last season, Russell got a little more time as Petty dealt with some injuries. When he played he went 48 of 85 passing for 805 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception. His big performance came when he threw for 438 yards and five touchdowns against Northwestern State.
