Royce Freeman Heisman Odds
EUGENE, OR (TheSpread) – Royce Freeman is a dynamic back with plenty of speed for the Oregon Ducks. Will his dynamic style lead him to the Heisman Trophy next season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Freeman is listed with 33/1 odds to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State and Trevone Boykin of TCU are co-favorites at 7/1 while Nick Chubb of Georgia has 8/1 odds.
Freeman is just a sophomore in 2015. He debuted with Oregon last season and led the team in rushing, posting 1,365 yards on 252 carries with 18 touchdowns. He also had a small role in the passing game, as he caught 16 balls for 158 yards with one score. On the ground, Freeman averaged 5.4 yards per carry.
Freeman had six games where he rushed for over 100 yards in 2014 and two others where he had at least 98 yards. He was somewhat quiet in the big games, as he had just 44 yards on 12 carries in the semifinal win over Florida State and just 22 yards on 10 carries in the championship loss to Ohio State. With Marcus Mariota now in the NFL, the Ducks may need to rely more on Freeman this year, making him a reasonable dark horse to win the Heisman.
