Washington State 2015 Odds
PULLMAN, WA (TheSpread) – Entering his pivotal fourth season with Washington State, will 2015 be the year that Mike Leach gets a winning season out of the Cougars?
According to the latest oddsmakers, Washington State is currently listed with odds of +20000 to win the College Football Playoffs next season. When it comes to the Pac-12 Conference, Washington State is listed with odds of +1000 to win.
Leach came to Washington State after a three-year departure from head coaching after being dismissed at Texas Tech. Thus far, Leach is just 12-25 in his three seasons with two 3-9 seasons, including a 3-9 mark last year. He is just 7-20 in Pac-12 play thus far, going 2-7 in the 2014 season.
The Cougars were a pretty standard Mike Leach team in 2014. They were very explosive on offense, mostly in the pass game, but horrible on the ground and on defense. Washington State allowed 38.6 points per game in 2014, which ranked them 117th nationally. They were 128th in rushing offense, posting just 39.8 yards per game. However, they were first in the country in passing at 477.7 yards per game and they posted 31.8 points per contest offensively. The offense will have Luke Falk back after he played the final four games of the season for the Cougars, throwing for 1,859 yards with 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions. One concern for Washington State is it loses its top two receivers from a year ago.
Washington State has a manageable schedule to start the year, hosing the likes of Portland State and Wyoming while heading to Rutgers for a non-conference road game. Pac-12 play has WU hosting Oregon State, Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado while making tough road trips to Oregon, Arizona, UCLA, Washington and Cal. Leach better hope his team goes 3-0 in non-conference play or a bowl game likely isn’t in the cards.
