Samaje Perine Heisman Odds
NORMAN, OK (TheSpread) – Already the owner of the single-game NCAA rushing record, will Samaje Perine be able to add the Heisman Trophy to his list of accomplishments this season?
According to oddsmakers at GTBets, Perine has 20/1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy in 2015. Currently, Ezekiel Elliott of Ohio State and Trevone Boykin of TCU are co-favorites at 7/1 while Nick Chubb of Georgia has 8/1 odds.
Perine is entering just his second season with the Sooners, but his first season was quite a big one. He rushed for 1,713 yards on 263 carries for a total of 21 touchdowns. He also caught 15 passes for 108 yards. Perine’s 1,713 yards ranked him eighth in the nation. His average of 6.5 yards per carry ranked 24th nationally.
Perine had three games where he rushed for over 200 yards, but his Nov. 22 contest against Kansas saw him rush for a new NCAA record of 427 yards. He had 34 carries in the contest, averaging 12.6 yards per carry while hitting the end zone five times. Perine had five games of over 100 yards in the 2014 season.
