According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Jones is 16/1 to win the 2015 Heisman Trophy. Those are the same odds given to his teammate Braxton Miller, as well as running back Derrick Henry of Alabama and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson. Fellow Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott is the current favorite to win this year’s Heisman at 6/1.
Jones put on a show at the conclusion of the college football season last year. He completed 12-of-17 passes for 257 yards and three touchdowns in the Big Ten Championship Game versus Wisconsin, then went on to throw for 243 yards and a touchdown in a 42-35 win over Alabama in the semi-finals. He capped his remarkable run with a 16-for-23 performance against Oregon in the national title game while throwing for 242 yards and a touchdown.
After winning the first college football playoff last season, the Buckeyes are favored to win again this season at 7/2. Alabama has the next-best odds to win the 2016 title at 7/1.
