According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Kessler is 12/1 to win the Heisman Trophy this season. Those odds rank him among some of the favorites, including Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott (6/1), TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin (7/1) and running backs Leonard Fournatte of LSU (8/1) and Nick Chubb of Georgia (8/1). Mississippi State signal-caller Dak Prescott is also 10/1.
As a junior last season, Kessler completed 315 passes on 452 attempts for 3,826 yards and 39 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also wrapped up the 2014 campaign with a 167.1 QB rating and completed just under 70 percent of his passes (69.7).
USC will be one of the top teams in the nation when the season starts in early September. Kessler will be surrounded by a great supporting cast, which includes a veteran offensive line and top receiver JuJu Smith.
