Hokies to honor Frank Beamer
Frank Beamer will no longer be the coach at Virginia Tech but the Hokies are still keeping him as part of the program.
The team announced on Tuesday that the team’s locker room will now be named “The Frank Beamer Locker Room.
“The heart and soul of Virginia Tech football resides within the young men who will use this locker room,” Beamer said in a release. “The locker room is a place where lifelong friendships form and teams grow stronger together. While this space will always belong to our student-athletes and Hokie Nation, if my name helps remind our student-athletes to give that extra effort on the field, study a little longer or do a good turn for a fellow Hokie, then I’m all for it.”

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Virginia Tech is currently listed with 200/1 odds to win the College Football Playoffs. Ohio State and Alabama are favored with 7/1 odds to win.
The Hokies are coming off a 7-6 record in 2015 in which they won the Independence Bowl to cap off Beamer’s career. Tech hasn’t won more than 8 games in its last four seasons and now brings in Justin Fuente as head coach while retaining many of Beamer’s assistants. Fuente was 26-23 in four years at Memphis, but went 19-6 in his last two seasons with the program.
