Clemson coach Dabo Swinney announced on Tuesday that returning starters Corey Crawford and David Beasley, along with teammates Garry Peters and Shaq Anthony are all suspended for the season opener with Georgia for a violation of team rules
“A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions,” Swinney said in a press release. “These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule, and as a result they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field.”
Crawford is a starting defensive lineman while Beasley starts on the offensive line. They will be big losses against an SEC foe like Georgia. This suspension greatly impacts the outlook for both the Tigers and the Bulldogs entering the season opener.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Clemson currently has 50/1 odds to win the 2015 FBS Championship Game, while Georgia’s odds have been set at 28/1.
Georgia hosts Clemson in the 2014 season opener on August 30, with the kickoff time yet to be announced.
