LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Nebraska quarterback Patrick Witt, who was expected to compete for a starting job next season, has decided to transfer to another school.
Nebraska coach Bo Pelini confirmed the sophomore’s decision on Sunday.
Pelini said Witt decided it was in his best interest to continue his college career at another school.
Witt appeared in five games last season and went 6-for-8 for 48 yards. The Wylie, Texas, native also rushed four times for 20 yards and a touchdown.
Witt was expected to compete against Zac Lee for the starting quarterback job senior Joe Ganz vacated. Kody Spano and Cody Green are also expected to get a look during spring workouts.
Lee will be a junior next fall. Spano will be a redshirt freshman, and Green will be a freshman.
