Mariota declares for NFL Draft
EUGENE, OR (TheSpread) – The Oregon Ducks will need to find a new starting quarterback for the 2015 season, as Heisman winner Marcus Mariota has declared for the 2015 NFL Draft.
After coming up short in the national championship game to Ohio State, Mariota took a day to consider his options before declaring himself eligible on Wednesday on Oregon’s school website.
“After meeting with my family I have decided to forgo my final year of eligibility and apply for the 2015 NFL draft,” Mariota said in the statement. “My four years at the University of Oregon have been an awesome experience. I cannot thank Coach Kelly, Coach Helfrich, Coach Frost, the rest of the Oregon coaches and the support staff enough for molding me as a person, player and student-athlete.”
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Oregon currently has 16/1 odds to win the 2016 College Football National Championship Game. The Ducks are tied for the fifth shortest odds with Oklahoma and USC. Ohio State is favored to repeat as champs, as the Buckeyes are getting 5/1 odds.
