Eagles drop last two
Southern Miss backed into bowl season, losing their final two games of the regular season to Western Kentucky and Florida Atlantic. The Golden Eagles are 7-5 on the season, 6-6 against the spread and 8-4 with the under.
The Golden Eagles are pretty steady on both sides of the ball. They are giving up just 25.9 points and 350.3 yards per game on defense. Offensively, Southern Miss is averaging 27.8 points and 411.3 yards per game. Jack Abraham is leading the offense with 3,329 passing yards and 18 touchdowns, but also has 15 interceptions. He also has rushed for five touchdowns. Quez Watkins is the top receiver with 55 catches for 1,024 yards and five scores, while Kevin Perkins is the top rusher with 548 yards and three touchdowns. Terry Whittington is leading the defense with 32 tackles and 7.5 sacks.
Green Wave struggle in second half
Tulane had a second half of the 2019 season to forget. The Green Wave were 1-5 over their last six games, including a three-game losing streak to end the year. Tulane is now 6-6 overall, 8-4 against the spread and 6-6 with the over/under total.
The Green Wave is a strong offensive team, averaging 33.3 points and 456.8 yards per contest. Defensively, Tulane is allowing 27.4 points and 378.9 yards per contest. Justin McMillan is leading the Tulane offense with 2,229 passing yards and 14 touchdowns while also rushing for a team-high 704 yards and 12 scores. Other top rushers Corey Dauphine and Darius Bradwell are both questionable for this game with injuries. They have combined for 1,000 yards and nine scores. Darnell Mooney is the team’s top receiver with 670 yards and five touchdowns on 45 receptions.
College Football Betting Trends
Southern Miss
The Golden Eagles are 5-2 with the over in their last seven bowl games, but 9-4-1 with the under in their last 14 non-conference games.

Prediction:
It’s about an average total for what we have seen this bowl season and Southern Miss has hit the under in five straight while Tulane has hit it in its last three. These teams have had close to five weeks to get ready for this game, so I think we will see some new wrinkles from both offenses. Bowl wins aren’t easy to come by for these programs, so I expect them to really leave it all on the field, which should lead to some explosive offense and a lot of points. Neither defense seems to be a unit that will really shutdown the other offense.
Armed Forces Bowl Prediction: Southern Miss/Tulane Over 56.5
