High Hopes
Lawrence, KS – Kansas coach Bill Self has every starter from last year’s Big 12 championship team, including a 6-foot-11 center some say could be an overall No. 1 pick in the NBA draft.
To that talented, veteran group he adds a blue-ribbon freshman class headed by Xavier Henry, the most heralded player he ever signed. If Self can keep this gifted group healthy and happy and working in concert for the next six months, the Jayhawks could be flying their second NCAA championship banner in three years.
The coach admitted during media day on Thursday that it will be a challenge to keep everybody on board. He also said he plans a rotation that will be eight or nine men deep and may redshirt two or three players.
