Final Four Prop Odds
Can you believe it’s already time for the Final Four? Well believe it, because the 2009 NCAA Men’s Basketball March Madness Tournament is already down to four teams, so let’s take a look at some Final Four Prop Odds.
Bet the 2009 March Madness Tournament
Last year, the No. 1 seeds dominated the tournament and while two top seeds once again made the Final Four this year (North Carolina and UCONN), No. 2 seeded Michigan State and No. 3 seeded Villanova decided to crash the party, too.
Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com have made the Tar Heels odds-on favorites to win the 2009 NCAA Championship at –125, followed by UCONN at +250, Michigan State at +500 and Villanova at +600.
Listed as a -7.5 point favorite, North Carolina will try to prevent Villanova from reliving its magical 1985 run (when they shocked Georgetown), while the Huskies, favored by 4.5-points, will try to overcome the Spartans, who soundly defeated Louisville (a team many thought would win the entire tournament) in the Elite Eight.
Below is a list of prop odds from SPORTSBETTING.COM that you can wager before the Final Four tips off on April 4.
Most Outstanding Player
UNC forward Tyler Hansbrough is the favorite to be named 2009’s Most Outstanding Player at +250. Looking at the numbers, Hansbrough has averaged 20.3 PPG during March Madness and also managed to nab 2.5 steals and 7.3 rebounds a game.
Hansbrough’s teammate and Tar Heels’ point guard Ty Lawson has been playing despite a toe injury, which held him out of the Opener vs. Radford. But in the three games he has played in, Lawson has also averaged 20.3 points per game and has also averaged 6.7 assists per game. Oddsmakers have established him as a +350 long shot to win Most Outstanding Player.
Team to Score the Most Points
Not surprisingly considered they’re favorite to win the entire tournament, UNC is expected to score the most points the rest of the way and have been made –200 favorites by SPORTSBETTING.com.
But there are some values to be had, including UCONN, who at +400 offers a better bang for the buck, especially considering the Huskies have racked up 103, 92, 72 and 82 points in four games so far in the tournament.
Player to Score the Most Points in the Final Four
SPORTSBETTING.COM lists some recognizable names for handing out odds on which player will score the most points in the Final Four. UNC’s Tyler Hansbrough (+200) and Ty Lawson (+300) are the top odds, but there are some values here, as well.
Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas is a long shot at +1500, but he’s averaging 12.8 PPG in the tournament. UCONN’s A.J. Price might be worth a wager as well, considering he’s averaging 20 PPG in the last four games and is listed at +250. Same goes for Villanova’s Dante Cunningham, who is listed at +500 and is averaging 17.8 PPG during this tournament.
Top Rebounder
Instead of another Tar Heel stealing this category, UCONN’s Hasheem Thabeet and his 11.3 rebounds per game make him a favorite at –130. Michigan State’s Goran Suton (who is averaging 11.5 rebounds per game) is also a decent bet at +250.
North Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough is a decent value bet at +400, as well as Villanova’s Dante Cunningham at +400. Hansbrough is averaging 8.3 boards per game, but Cunningham is nabbing 8.3 rebounds per game.
