Florida is the No. 3 seed in the region. The Gators have defeated Northwestern State and Minnesota to reach this round. The Gators could have to play the 14th seed, 11th seed and 15th seed to reach the Elite Eight. Florida has reached the Final Four four times, the last trip coming in 2007.

Kansas is the top seed in this region. The Jayhawks beat Western Kentucky by seven and then beat North Carolina by 12 points to reach the regional semifinal. Kansas has reached the Final Four 14 times, including last season.

Michigan is the No. 4 seed in the region. The Wolverines have beaten South Dakota State and VCU by a combined 40 points. Michigan has went to six Final Fours, with the last coming in 1993. However, their last two trips (1992-93) have been vacated by the NCAA.

Florida Gulf Coast is the first 15th seed to reach the Sweet 16. The Eagles upset Georgetown, 78-68, then beat San Diego State, 81-71, to reach the round of 16. Florida Gulf Coast is in just its second season of tournament eligibility and has never played in the Final Four.
