Temple vs. Indiana Free Pick
DAYTON, OH (ATS Consultants) – There have been a ton of upsets thus far in the 2013 March Madness tournament and could there be one more today when ninth-seeded Temple squares off with one-seed Indiana at 2:45PM ET?
LINE MOVEMENT: The Hoosiers opened as 12.5-point favorites but the line has been bet down to 11.5 at most sports books. As for the total, it opened at 146 but has been bet up to 147.5 or 148.
PUBLIC BETTING: Of the wagers placed on tonight’s game, 65% of college basketball public bettors currently favor the Hoosiers. This information is subject to change, however, so make sure you click on the link provided for the most up-to-date public betting numbers.
FREE PICK: Take Temple. According to latest college basketball trends, Temple is 17-6-1 ATS last 24 Sunday games and 6-2 ATS last 8 vs. a team with a winning SU record. Indiana is 2-5-1 ATS last 8 neutral site games and 1-3-1 ATS last 5 NCAA Tournament games.
The #9 Temple Owls (24-9 SU, 15-16 ATS) are hoping to knock off a top seed after upsetting a fifth seed in the second round. The #1 Indiana Hoosiers (28-6 SU, 17-14-1 ATS) are coming off a 83-62 win over #16 James Madison, laying 21.Temple is another one of those teams that was underseeded. They did have a disappointing Atlantic 10 tournament, losing to UMass in their first game, 79-74, giving 4.5. But Temple had won seven straight before that loss, beating the likes of VCU by eight, Detroit at home by five (in the BracketBusters), Charlotte on the road by 20 and La Salle at home by eight. Fran Dunphy's squad also beat Syracuse from Madison Square Garden in New York City. Star guard Khalif Wyatt scored 33 points, while Anthony Lee added 21. They also had seven point loss at Kansas, getting 12.5. Temple is led by Wyatt, who scored 31 points against North Carolina State in the second round. Temple is a solid team but the don't turn the ball over (just 15.9 percent of their possessions). Temple has to be concerned about 7-foot Cody Zeller (16.7 points, 8 rebounds), but Temple is not small. Jake O'Brien (6-9, 220) adds 9.6 points and Lee (6-9, 230) can come off the bench to averages 9.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. This isn't the biggest team but they have quickness and solid guards. Indiana is 4-2 in neutral site games but they allow teams to shoot 39.2 percent from beyond the arc. The size factor may hurt defensively against Indiana, who could edge the Owls but will definitely not cover as a double digit favorite Indiana takes on Temple from the University of Dayton Arena from Dayton, Oh. in the third round at 2:45pmET on Sunday.
