Miami opened its tournament with an impressive 78-49 win over Pacific. The Hurricanes dominated form the start, taking a 40-19 lead in the first half. Illinois advanced to today’s game by grinding out a 57-49 win over Colorado. After taking a 37-21 lead into halftime, the Illini started very slow in the second half, and even trailed at one point before rallying to close out with the win. Illinois was just 16 of 52 from the floor and 8 of 31 from 3-point land, but the Illini forced Colorado into 15 turnovers and they took 11 more free-throw attempts in the game. Tracy Abrams had 13 points, six assists and four rebounds to lead Illinois in the win. Illinois is now 23-12 on the season, 6-2 on a neutral floor and 14-18 against the spread.
