Yellow Jackets to swarm Aztecs?
Two nights after stinging South Carolina mercilessly, will the Yellow Jackets be able to buzz circles around San Diego State?
Georgia Tech is ready and raring to take its red-hot offense into the quarterfinals of the NIT against the Aztecs, with a 9 p.m. ET tip tonight at Viejas Arena. The winner advances to contest either George Washington or Florida
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, San Diego State’s home-court advantage could make the ultimate difference. The Aztecs are 5-point favorites, with the over/under line riding at 169.
Such a slight probably doesn’t sit well with the Georgia Tech diehards, who watched firsthand as their squad dismantled the Gamecocks. The Yellow Jackets shot 51 percent in Monday’s 83-68 clobbering, leading by 30 at one juncture. Senior guard Adam Smith piloted an offensive attack that converted at least eight 3-pointers for the second straight contest.

For those expecting SDSU to scare easily, well, you don’t know Steve Fisher’s troops. The Aztecs themselves battered Washington in the second round, 93-78, nailing 62 percent of beyond-the-arc attempts. Winston Shepard and company also converted 26 free throws.
Believe it or not, these two combatants usually prioritize defense. The high-flying antics are bound to come back to earth sooner or later, but this evening will still feature enough of them to satiate bettors.
