North Carolina vs. Iowa State Odds

SAN ANTONIO, TX (TheSpread) – No. 3 Iowa State looks to find a way to win without a key player today when it takes on No. 6 North Carolina at 5:15PM ET in the NCAA Tournament.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Iowa State is the slight favorite to win, as the Cyclones have odds of -1.5 points against UNC. The over/under total for the game has been set at 159 points (View Matchup). These two last met in 2005 with North Carolina getting a 92-65 victory.

Iowa State is 17-15 against the spread and it has hit the over 18 times. The Cyclones are riding a five-game winning streak thanks to a 93-75 win over No. 14 North Carolina Central on Friday. Iowa State shot an impressive 35 of 55 from the field and 9 of 17 from 3-point land in the win, but the Cyclones were dealt a blow as forward Georges Niang broke his foot in the win. Niang had 24 points in Friday’s win and he averages 16.7 points per game on the season. Melvin Ejim added 17 points and eight rebounds in Friday’s win for ISU.

North Carolina is 16-17 against the spread while hitting the over 17 times. The Tar Heels snapped a two-game losing streak by beating No. 11 Providence, 79-77. UNC was trailing late, but a number of mistakes by the Friars opened the door for UNC to get the win. The Tar Heels had a 40-26 rebounding advantage and pulled down 21 offensive rebounds in the win. Brice Johnson had 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench for UNC while James Michael McAdoo had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Marcus Paige added 19 points.
