California vs. Syracuse Odds

SAN JOSE, CA (TheSpread) – After an impressive win on Thursday, Syracuse looks to repeat that performance today when it faces California at 9:40PM ET in the NCAA Tournament.

This game will be played from HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and is part of the East Region with Syracuse as the fourth seed and California the 12th seed. (View Matchup). According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Syracuse is the clear favorite as the Orange have odds of -7.5 points against Cal. The over/under total for this contest has been set at 124.5 points. The opening odds also had Syracuse favored by 7.5 points. The spread jumped up to 8 in the last day, but has since dropped back to 7.5. These two last met in 2009 with Syracuse getting a 95-73 win over Cal.

Syracuse advanced to today’s game by beating Montana, 81-34. The win was the largest victory in NCAA tournament history. The Orange held Montana to 11 of 54 shooting and forced 17 turnovers while shooting 27 of 52 themselves and pulling down 40 rebounds. Brandon Triche had 20 points and four assists to lead Syracuse. The Orange are now 27-9 on the season, 5-2 on a neutral floor and 18-14 against the spread.

California advanced to the third round with a 64-61 win over UNLV on Thursday. The Golden Bears made the game interesting as they shot just 7 of 16 from the free throw line. The Bears didn’t shoot poorly from the field, going 26 of 59 from the floor while holding the Rebels to 19 of 59 shooting. Allen Crabbe led Cal to the victory, as he had 19 points and nine rebounds. The Bears are now 21-11 on the season, 4-1 on a neutral floor and 13-16-1 against the spread.
