SAN DIEGO, CA (TheSpread) – No. 5 VCU is being penciled in as an upset candidate today in the NCAA Tournament when it takes on No. 12 Stephen F. Austin at 7:27PM ET.

VCU comes into the tournament at 26-8 out of the Atlantic 10 while Stephen F. Austin is 31-2 and champions of the Southland Conference. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, VCU is the favorite, as the Rams have odds of -6.5 points against Stephen F. Austin. The over/under total for the game has been set at 137 points (View Matchup). These two have no recent meetings.

VCU was 17-14-1 against the spread this season while hitting the under 20 times. The Rams won their final six games before losing to St. Joe’s in the A-10 Tournament Championship. VCU is averaging 75 points per game on offense while holding opponents to 64.9 points per contest. The Rams also rank 18th nationally in 3-point defense, holding opponents to 30.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
