Tennessee vs. UMass Odds

RALEIGH, NC (TheSpread) – No.6 UMass looks to avoid a popular upset pick when it takes on No. 11 Tennessee today at 2:45PM ET in the NCAA Tournament.

UMass got into the tournament by having a 24-8 record out of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Tennessee advanced to this game following a win over Iowa on Wednesday in the First Four. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Tennessee is the favorite in the game, as the Volunteers have odds of -4 points against UMass. The over/under total for the game has been set at 137 points (View Matchup). These two met in 2012, with Tennessee picking up an 83-69 victory.

UMass is 16-15-1 against the spread this season and the Minutemen have hit the under 19 times. UMass has a strong run during the season, but has faltered late, losing three of their last five. UMass is averaging 76.1 points per game on offense this season while giving up 70.8 per game on defense. UMass is holding opponents to just 31.3 percent shooting from 3-point land. The team is led by Chaz Williams, who had 15.8 points and 7 assists per game during the season.

Tennessee is now 19-13 against the spread while hitting the under 19 times as well. The Volunteers grinded out a 78-65 overtime win over Iowa on Wednesday night from Dayton. Tennessee trailed most of the game but found a way to get it to overtime and pulled away from there. Jordan McRae led the Vols in the win, as he had 20 points with four rebounds and three assists. Jarnell Stokes added 18 points with 13 rebounds while Josh Richardson had 17 points and eight boards.
