Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog.com have made Miami a 4.5-point favorite over Missouri State on Monday night. The over/under total for this game is currently 135 poins.
Missouri State enters tonight’s game with a 26-8 overall record and is 16-15-2 against the spread according to latest college basketball trends. The over is 17-15 in all Missouri State lined games, as the Bears are averaging 69.8 points for and 62.6 points against in 2011.
The Hurricanes come into Monday night sporting a 20-14 overall record and are 15-13-1 against the spread. The under is 15-14 in all lined Miami games, as the Canes are averaging 71.6 points for and 67.1 points against this season.
College Basketball Free Pick: After watching St. Mary’s get upset by Kent State, I have confidence that Miami won’t overlook Missouri State on Monday, just as they didn’t overlook Florida Atlantic in the first round. Granted, the three-seeded Bears are a more talented team than the Owls but they’re an unheralded squad nonetheless. Missouri State is led by 6-foot-6 junior forward Kyle Weems, who averages 16 points and seven rebounds per game. But the Canes counter with their own match-up problem for the Bears, and he goes by the name of Reggie Johnson. The 6-foot-10 pound center is averaging 12 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. He opens things up for guards Malcolm Grant and Durand Scott, who have made a school-record 273 3-pointers in 713 attempts. Miami is 5-1-1 against the spread in their last seven overall games, while the Bears are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall. I don’t expect a blowout, but Miami is the better overall team and I see them pulling away late in the second half.
