MILWAUKEE, WI (TheSpread) – The second-seeded Wisconsin Badgers hope to avoid a massive upset today when they take on No. 15 American at 12:40PM ET in the West Region of the NCAA Tournament.

American enters the tournament at 20-12 overall and champions of the Patriot League, while Wisconsin went 26-7 overall and comes out of the Big Ten. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Wisconsin is the clear favorite in this game, as the Badgers have odds of -13.5 points against American. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 121.5 points. (View Matchup). These two have no recent meetings.

Wisconsin went 17-16 against the spread this season and hit the over in 18 of 32 lined games. The Badgers made a push for a No. 1 seed toward the end of the year, winning eight straight before losing two of their last three. Wisconsin has always been known for defense, holding opponents to just 64.6 points per game this season while scoring 73.5 points per contest on offense. Wisconsin ranks 30th nationally in free-throw shooting, posting a 74.4 percent success rate at the line. The Badgers have four different players scoring in double figures, with Frank Kaminsky leading the way, averaging 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game.

American was in just four lined games this season, going 4-0 against the spread while hitting the under in all four contests. The Eagles come into the tournament having won five of their last six games. They have the eighth-ranked scoring defense in the country, allowing just 58.6 points per game while holding opponents to just 26.3 rebounds per contest. Offensively, American posts only 63.9 points per contest, yet has the seventh-best shooting percentage in the nation at 49.4 percent. American has been led on the season by Jesse Reed, who averages 13.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.
