Vols looking to earn SEC title
The Tennessee Volunteers enter today tied for the SEC lead after a three-game win streak. They can earn at least a share of the crown with a victory today. Tennessee has covered the spread in its last two. The Vols are 27-3 on the season, 15-2 in the SEC, 7-2 on the road, 15-13-1 against the spread and 15-14 with the over.
Tennessee has been solid on both sides of the court this season. The Vols average 82.4 points per game on offense while shooting 50 percent from the field. Defensively, Tennessee is giving up just 67.1 points per game while limiting opponents to 39 percent shooting. Grant Williams is leading the team with 19.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while Admiral Schofield is adding 16.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.
Auburn on win streak
Auburn has won three straight and five of its last six coming into today’s contest. The Tigers are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four. Auburn is now 21-9 on the season, 10-7 in the SEC, 14-2 at home, 14-14-1 against the spread and 15-14 with the over.
The Tigers are putting up 79.9 points per game on offense this season while shooting 37.5 percent from the arc. Defensively, Auburn is giving up 68.1 points per game while opponents shoot 42.6 percent against them. Center Austin Wiley is doubtful to play tonight due to a leg injury. Bryce Brown is leading the team with 15.7 points per game while Jared Harper is adding 15.2 points and 5.8 assists per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Tennessee
The Volunteers are 17-8 against the spread in their last 25 road games, but just 2-5 ATS in their last seven SEC games.
Auburn
Auburn is 0-5 ATS in its last five home games against a team with a winning road record and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 Saturday games.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met this season, but Tennessee has won and covered the spread in three of their last four against Auburn. The Vols have a lot at stake today, as the SEC title is up for grabs. They shouldn’t be lacking in motivation and Auburn is a team that hasn’t been playing its best basketball over recent weeks. I think Tennessee has too much offense and a much better defense than Auburn. I will take the Vols minus the points.
College Basketball Prediction: Tennessee -2.5
