The last time Ohio State faced Purdue, back on Jan. 25, it was the Buckeyes that embarrassed the Boilermakers to the tune of 87-64. Purdue has the opportunity to get revenge and also to prevent Ohio State from climbing to No. 1 in the nation as it hosts the Buckeyes at 1:00PM EST.
Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have listed Purdue as a 1-point favorite in the contest. According to the latest trends, Ohio State is 4-2 against the spread against Purdue over the past three seasons. Three of the last five games in the series have gone under the total.
Ohio State (25-1, 12-1) rebounded from its only defeat this season Saturday at Wisconsin by besting Michigan State 71-61 on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Purdue (21-5, 10-3) is riding a three-game winning streak and most recently topped Wisconsin 70-62 at home on Wednesday. The Boilermakers are a perfect 14-0 at home this season.
Freshman phenom Jared Sullinger leads Ohio State with averages of 17.8 points and 10.0 rebounds. Purdue’s JaJuan Johnson puts in 20.7 points per game and averages 7.8 boards, while teammate E’Twaun Moore pours in 17.9 points per game.
Other college basketball top-25 action includes the Duke Blue Devils, who host Georgia Tech at 7:45PM EST. Duke is a 21-point favorite. Wisconsin is home against Penn State and the Badgers are 11.5-point favorites.
