Wolverines clamp down on Badgers
Michigan recorded a 61-52 victory Saturday afternoon at home over Wisconsin to improve to 22-2 overall and 11-2 in Big Ten Conference play. The Wolverines shot 25-of-56 from the field, 4-of-17 from 3-point range and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Charles Matthews paced U-M with 18 points on 9-of-18 shooting. He also registered two rebounds and two assists. Jon Teske contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Jordan Poole added 10 points and nine boards. Michigan outscored the visitors 34-25 in the second half after it went into the halftime break tied.
Nittany Lions fall at Buckeyes
Penn State lost by a score of 74-70 Thursday night at Ohio State to drop to 8-15 overall and 1-11 in conference action. The Nittany Lions trailed 34-31 at halftime and could not get over the hump in the second half. Penn State shot 26-of-60 from the field, 4-of-14 from 3-point range and 14-of-18 at the charity stripe. Lamar Stevens paced the Nittany Lions with 20 points on 6-of-16 shooting plus 8-of-9 at the free throw line. He also accounted for 12 points and two assists. College Basketball Betting Trends
Michigan
The Wolverines are 23-9-1 ATS in their last 33 road games. Michigan is 4-1 ATS in its last five games overall.
Penn State
The Nittany Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games. Penn State is 0-5 ATS in its last five home games.
Prediction:
Penn State has lost a lot of games by not a lot of points this season, but does have a 68-55 defeat at Michigan on its record already and is clearly struggling to keep up with the rest of the Big Ten. The Nittany Lions are offensively deficient and I don’t think this spread is quite wide enough considering the two teams involved. Look for the Wolverines to frustrate PSU and gradually pull away.
