Despite Fairfield sitting at the top of the MAAC standings with a 13-2 advantage and a two-game cushion over the rest of the field, the conference race is by no means over as Rider (17-8, 9-4) is one of two teams sitting two games back.
Rider will get a chance to perhaps climb closer Friday night as it hosts Canisius (12-11, 6-7) at 7:00PM EST. Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Rider a 7.5-point favorite in the contest.
According to the latest trends, Canisius is 3-2 against the spread this season. Rider is 6-4 at home this season and Canisius is 4-7 on the road.
Justin Robinson leads the Broncs at 16.2 points per game, while Novar Gadson complements him at 13.3 ppg. Five players average in double figures in scoring for Canisius, led by Elton Frazier who puts in 11.3 ppg in the balanced attack.
Elsewhere in college basketball Friday night, Harvard hosts Yale at 7:00PM EST in a rivalry game between two of the upper-echelon teams in the Ivy League. Harvard is listed as a 12-point favorite. MAAC frontrunner Fairfield is at Manhattan for a 7:00PM EST start. Fairfield is an 11-point favorite.
