Life in the Big East is tough stuff as every team in the conference fully understands, including Connecticut as it followed up losses to a pair of ranked opponents in Louisville and Syracuse with Saturday’s come-from-behind 61-59 victory at Seton Hall.
Connecticut (18-4) will attempt to continue the momentum Thursday night as it plays at St. John’s (13-9) at 7:00PM EST. Oddsmakers and online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Connecticut 1-5-point favorites in the matchup.
According to the latest trends, St. John’s is 2-1 against the spread against Connecticut over the past three seasons. St. John’s is 8-4 in home games this year and Connecticut is 4-2 in true road contests.
Kemba Walker is one of the nation’s leading scorers at 23.2 points per game, but he has also proven to be a streaky shooter as he was held to eight points in the loss to Syracuse before rebounding with 19 points versus Seton Hall. Dwight Hardy leads the Red Storm at 15.8 points per game and is coming off a 32-point performance in a 66-59 loss at UCLA this past weekend.
The only other game on the top-25 schedule pits Vanderbilt (16-6) at home against Alabama (15-7). Vanderbilt is 12-1 at home this season and Alabama is 3-3 on the road. The Commodores are 6.5-point favorites.
