Purdue vs. Maryland Pick
Two of the best in the Big Ten collide today when No. 17 Maryland hosts No. 23 Purdue at Noon ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Purdue is actually the favorite on the road, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -3 points against the Terps. The over/under total is listed at 147.5 points. These two are meeting for the first time this season. Maryland is 2-0-1 against the spread against Purdue in Big Ten meetings.
Maryland is on a seven-game win streak now where it has covered the spread in all seven games. The Terps are now 20-2 overall, 8-1 in the Big Ten and 12-6-2 against the spread. Maryland is an offense only averaging 75 points per game, but the defense is holding opponents to 67. At home, Maryland is allowing just 63.2 points per game. Melo Trimble is averaging 17 points per game to lead the team while Justin Jackson is putting up 11.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

The defense is allowing 66.5 points per game on the season, but it increases to 77 on the road. Caleb Swanigan is a tough player to stop. I am not sure what Maryland has to do to get some respect, but oddsmakers aren’t giving it. The Terps have been the dog in six of the seven wins during this current streak and they are 8-0 ATS as an underdog overall. Purdue isn’t a dominant road team, going just 5-4 ATS. I like the Boilermakers, but Maryland has found a way to win a lot of tough games and I like them to do it again today. Go with the Terps getting points at home.
