Washington dismisses Upshaw
SEATTLE, WA (TheSpread) – The Washington Huskies made a touch decision on Monday, dismissing 7-foot center Robert Upshaw from the team.
The junior was dismissed for a violation of team rules, according to Washington. Upshaw had come to Washington after transferring from Fresno State, but he has failed drug tests at each stop.
“We wish Rob well as he moves forward in his life, and we will do our best to support him in the future,” Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said in a statement.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Washington currently has 300/1 odds to win the NCAA Tournament this year. Kentucky is the current favorite to win it all with 1/1 odds, while Virginia has 15/2 odds.
Upshaw was a force for Washington, as he was averaging 10.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game. His block numbers were the best in the nation. Washington is currently 14-5 on the season and 3-4 in the Pac-12. Washington started the season 11-0 before dropping four straight games, including their first three Pac-12 outings.
