CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) – Laurent Rivard scored 18 points to lead five players in double figures for Harvard en route to a 74-69 victory over Monmouth (N.J.) on Wednesday night.
The Crimson (8-3) were 19 of 40 from the field (47.5 percent), including 8 for 17 from 3-point range (47.1 percent). But it was their work at the free-throw line that earned them the victory.
Harvard made 28 of 35 free-throw attempts (80 percent) as the Hawks, who have lost four straight, committed 26 fouls.
Oliver McNally scored 14, Brandyn Curry added 12 and Christian Webster and Kyle Casey 11 apiece for Harvard.
Monmouth (4-9) outshot the Crimson from the field, going 23 for 47 overall (48.9 percent) and 12 of 21 from 3-point range (57.1 percent).
Will Campbell scored 17 points and Gary Cox added 16 for the Hawks.
The teams traded leads 22 times and the score was tied on 11 occasions.
