CINCINNATI (AP) – Mark Lyons scored 18 points, leading five Xavier players in double figures as the Musketeers routed Albany (N.Y.) 88-64 Tuesday night.
Xavier (8-3) remained unbeaten at home this season (6-0), with Kenny Frease (17 points, nine rebounds), Jamel McLean (15 points, 11 rebounds), Dante Jackson (14 points) and Tu Holloway (11 points, nine assists) joining Lyons in double figures.
The Great Danes (7-7) saw their three-game winning streak ended, despite Tim Ambrose’s 24 points. Logan Aronhalt added 17 points for Albany, but the big disparity was on the boards.
Xavier outrebounded Albany 38-23, snagging 12 offensive boards that led to easy put-backs and a high shooting percentage from the floor (56.9 percent on 33-of-58 shooting).
All Lyons’ points came on 6-of-9 shooting from 3-point territory and that helped the Musketeers shoot 50 percent from beyond the arc (14 of 28).
