PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Drexel’s season is starting to resemble the last good one for the Dragons.
Try not to remind coach Bruiser Flint.
The 2006-07 Dragons beat a Top 25 team on the road, won 10 straight games, knocked off three of their more respected Philly foes and went 23-9 overall. Not bad, just not sparkling enough to earn an NCAA tournament at-large bid. The Dragons instead lost in the first round of the NIT.
This year, the Dragons (8-1) are off to their best start since 1993-94, have won six straight games, beat a Top 25 team on the road and received votes this week in The Associated Press men’s basketball poll.
Instead of thinking about how the streaking start might help the Dragons in March, Flint learned his lesson from the bitter disappointment of missing out on the tournament four years ago.
