DENTON, Texas (AP) -J.C. Otero scored a career-high 18 points and had 12 rebounds as Florida International defeated North Texas 80-70 in overtime Sunday after giving up a 16-point lead.
Marlon Bright also had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Panthers (4-10, 1-1 Sun Belt). Marvin Roberts added 18 points, and Antoine Watson scored 15.
North Texas guard Josh White forced overtime when he banked in a long 3-pointer with 0.4 seconds remaining to tie the score at 67-67. Tristan Thompson led the Mean Green (6-4, 1-1) with a 27 points. White had 13 and George Odufuwa 12.
Florida International led by as many as 16 in the first half and was up 38-23 at halftime. North Texas opened the second half with a 19-7 run to cut the lead to three and stayed close throughout the rest of regulation.
