HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Shamir McDaniel scored a game-high 22 points for undefeated Sam Houston State, which came from behind to beat UC Irvine 61-54 on Thursday night.
McDaniel was 6 of 8 from the field, including 4 of 5 from the field for the Bearkats (10-0). Ryan Bright was the only other Sam Houston player in double figures with 10. John Gardiner added 8.
Trey Harris scored 13 points to lead the Anteaters (4-6). Patrick Sanders and Darren Fells had 10 apiece.
Both teams shot less than 45 percent from the field.
UC Irvine led 27-25 at halftime.
