LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) -The freshman class of Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley and all those future NBA players was considered one of the best in college basketball history.
Now, another, perhaps even better class has come along.
Led by John Wall and Xavier Henry, this year’s rookie crop has a chance to be better than that heralded 2007 class.
Henry leads top-ranked Kansas in scoring, while Wall does a little bit of everything for third-ranked Kentucky. There’s also speedy Texas guard Avery Bradley, soft-shooting big man Tiny Gallon of Oklahoma and Georgia Tech’s Derrick Favors.
And this could just be the beginning.
Thanks to Internet exposure and coaches’ willingness to use younger players, more great freshmen classes could be on the way.
