MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -Josh Taylor scored 16 points Saturday and Eastern Kentucky beat Ball State 71-58 despite going without a field goal for the final four minutes of the game.
The Colonels (7-3) took a 41-30 lead at halftime, built their biggest lead at 15 points early in the second period and held off the Cardinals (4-5) down the stretch. Taylor, who also hit 3-of-4 3-point shots, also added five rebounds.
Papa Oppong and Dayvon Ellis added 11 points each for Eastern Kentucky. Ball State was led by Anthony Newell with 17 points, while Brandon Lampley added 11 points and Rob Giles had 10. Maurice Hubbard had only 2 points for the Cardinals but pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
