MORAGA, Calif. (AP) -Saint Mary’s guard Wayne Hunter will miss the rest of the season with a torn ligament in his left knee.
The school said Friday that Hunter will have surgery to repair the torn ACL later this month. Hunter injured himself in the second half of a Dec. 5 win at Utah State.
Hunter started the first seven games of the season for the Gaels (6-1), averaging 11.6 points per game. He also is the team’s best perimeter defender.
The school says it is uncertain whether Hunter will apply to the NCAA for a medical hardship seeking a sixth year of eligibility. Hunter redshirted during the 2007-08 season.
