SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - Matt Sullivan and Sean McGonagill played pretty well on a rough night for Brown.
Sullivan scored 18 and McGonagill had 15 points, but the Bears lost 84-57 at No. 22 Notre Dame on Saturday.
The captain guards each were 6 for 12 from the field. Sullivan made four 3-pointers and also had six rebounds and three assists. McGonagill made three 3s.
Sullivan and McGonagill entered the game leading the team in scoring, averaging 15.7 and 14.9 points, respectively.
``Our guards did a fabulous job guarding their guards,'' Notre Dame coach Mike Brey said. ``Their guards are good. It was a workout all night chasing them around.''
Their performances were among the few positives that Brown coach Mike Martin said he took from the game.
``I was disappointed with our team's effort for 40 minutes,'' Martin said. ``I thought we showed flashes ... but against a team like this in a building like this, you've got to do it for 40 minutes, otherwise they're going to make you pay.''
Freshman Cameron Biedscheid had a career-high 17 points for the Fighting Irish (8-1), who had five players score in double figures. Jack Cooley added 15 points and 12 rebounds, Scott Martin scored 14 and Jerian Grant finished with 12. Eric Atkins had 10 points and 12 assists.
Biedscheid missed practice this week with the flu.
``Today I was feeling a little better and I just got after it a little bit and we came out ready to play,'' he said. ``I'm just really getting a lot of help from the veteran guys. They talk to me a lot out on the floor and it helps keep me focused, and I've just really been stepping up and knocking the shots down.''
Notre Dame led 42-27 at halftime and put the game away midway through the second half. Grant and Martin made back-to-back 3-pointers to cap a 12-0 run that gave the Irish a 71-45 lead with 6:02 to go.
Cedric Kuakumensah, who leads the Ivy League with 2.3 blocked shots per game, had two blocks, four points and nine rebounds for Brown (3-5).
