MILWAUKEE (AP) – Marquette has named Larry Williams its new vice president and director of athletics.
Williams, a former Notre Dame football player, has been the director of athletics and recreation at the University of Portland since 2004.
Williams was a standout offensive lineman at Notre Dame and went on to play in the NFL. He earned a law degree from the University of San Diego during his pro football career.
Former athletic director Steve Cottingham resigned in June as school and athletic department officials faced questions about how they handled two cases of alleged sexual assault involving athletes. School officials have not named the athletes involved, but changed school policy regarding the reporting of alleged incidents to police.
